The Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia is honored to present our recent Community Impact Award to Depaul House. CFGP representatives visited the Depaul House, a part of the national organization Depaul USA. Having been in existence for just six years, Depaul House has already served over 200 individuals. Depaul House seeks to provide temporary housing for homeless men, while also giving them the opportunity to work with case managers and apply for jobs. Thus far, Depaul House has an 80% success rate of men graduating from their program and securing employment.
In 2014, Depaul House expanded its services to include a Medical Respite Program, which provides homeless men with a place to recuperate upon their discharge from local hospitals. The Respite can host up to 8 individuals at one time, and focuses primarily on those who are struggling with both an acute medical illness and a chemical dependency or mental illness. In addition, Depaul House recently opened a second location, St. Raymond’s House, which will serve both homeless men and women and offer them permanent housing. The program moved its first group of residents into St. Raymond’s earlier this month.
It is our pleasure to highlight this incredible facility and to recognize them for the charitable work they’re doing within our community.
